About the event
Bull Halsey

Bull Halsey delivers a raw, blues that stomps and echoes through a distorted mic—blending classic Chicago grooves with modern waves of sound. Formed in 2001 by longtime collaborators Wally Schmid and Dave Oesterle (Bovine), the band found its stride in control, dynamics, and deep tradition without getting stuck in the past.
With Garth Girard on bass and blues harp veteran Danny Pratt in the mix, their sound channels Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and Little Walter—now run through a broken speaker and turned up to ten. Sharp suits. Sizzling amps. Songs built to shake you.
After Wally’s 2013 retirement, Ben Vermeylen (Whitey Morgan and the 78’s, Bovine) stepped in, adding fresh energy to their gritty, ever-evolving sound. Keep an ear out for their upcoming record The Magnificent Bull Halsey—and don’t be surprised if the blues flattens you. This band’s got soul to spare and local roots that run deep!

Eric Moore & Guy Talk

Eric Moore brings a storyteller’s heart and a wanderer’s soul to the stage. Born in the Pittsburgh area and shaped by a journey that’s taken him from the Pacific coast to the rugged beauty of Jackson Hole, he’s gathered songs and stories the way some folks collect stamps. It was in Wyoming—living in a yurt through the winters, running rafting trips down the Snake River—where he found his deeper voice as a guitarist and songwriter.
Imagine the poetic edge of Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell, the intricate picking of Leo Kottke, and the soulful delivery of Van Morrison—all filtered through the lens of someone who’s genuinely lived it. Since settling in Ypsilanti in 2002, Eric’s played many of Southeast Michigan’s finest stages: The Ark, Hollerfest, and Ann Arbor Summerfest’s Top of the Park, to name a few.
When he’s not honing his sound, you might catch him in the kitchen, out on his bike, or gliding through the woods on cross-country skis with his dogs close behind.
Come catch Eric Moore live at The Rumpus Room—where music brings us together!
