J.H. Patton & The Good Companions
J.H. Patton, a guitarist and songwriter, formed his newest musical project when returning to his home state of Michigan after a few years away. With a handful of new songs and a need to play live again, J.H. Patton quickly formed The Good Companions with Kurtis Young and Peter Shutt.
Kurtis Young is a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter from Holt, Michigan. Active in his local music scene for years, Kurt has honed his skills as a bassist, horn player, conductor, and arranger (just to name a few). A close musical companion of J.H. Patton's since their first meeting in 2018, Kurt's melodic basslines and vocal harmonies lift the band's songs to new musical heights.
Peter Shutt is a drummer from Holt, Michigan. Returning to his home state after residing in Vancouver for a time, Peter was invited to a jam with J.H. in early 2023, on the recommendation of Kurtis Young. Bringing a light touch and a keen sense of rhythm to the kit, Peter completed the sound of the band, and The Good Companions was born.
In early 2024, J.H. Patton & The Good Companions released their first EP, Live from Dogtown, recorded live in Grand Rapids' Dogtown Studio. Just a few months later, the band released a second EP; California Green. Recorded above a garage in the summer of 2023, California Green is a collection of some of the first songs written for The Good Companions.

Turner Luce
Since 2019, Turner Luce has been performing for audiences throughout Southeast Michigan, including clubs, breweries, distilleries, festivals, outdoor concerts, and other venues. The band has released two EPs of all-original songs, which are available on Spotify and other music streaming platforms. Turner Luce’s Americana acoustic stylings fit perfectly in small venues, such as cafes, breweries, distilleries, wine bars, and indoor markets. The band has also performed at private parties and events.
Turner Luce offers audiences a unique mix of both original and cover songs by such artists as Tom Petty, Sam Phillips, Matchbox Twenty, The Lonely Heartstring Band, The Avett Brothers, and others. The band's blend of folk, soft rock, and country align with the Americana descriptor. Its original songs showcase a bit of country and soft rock stylings, while it prefers to play so-called deep covers by leading artists—great songs that received little airplay during their time and ones that not all audiences will be familiar with. With its simple instrumentation—guitar, keys, violin, bass, and vocals—Turner Luce emphasizes the essential elements of acoustic music.
